Four children die in Melbourne housefire

Four children have died in a housefire in Melbourne's west overnight. 

Firefighters entered the home on Mantello Drive in Werribee by breaking through the garage at around 1am this morning. 

Firefighters initially struggled to access the home due to the intensity of the blaze. 

The four children were eventually located – two boys aged 10 and three, and two girls aged six and one. 

A man, woman and an eight-year-old were able to escape the fire and were taken to a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation and minor injures. 

Police are calling on neighbours and members of the community to come forward if they have any information. 

Arson squad detectives have remained on the scene to investigate the blaze.
