2022 Country Championships race dates annouced; qualifiers, Wild Card and final

Racing NSW has released the race dates for next year’s Country Championships series. Get the full schedule here.

The Newhaven Park Country Championships Race Series will kick off next year’s series at Coffs Harbour on Saturday, February 12.

Racing NSW released the dates for the $1.6m series for country-trained gallopers on Tuesday.

In 2022, the heats run in each of New South Wales’s seven country regions, along with a repechage known as the Wild Card will run across six weeks before the $500,000 final at Randwick on April 2.

This year Nowra hopes to run the South East qualifier for the first time on February 13 after the race was transferred to another venue last year.

Another first in 2022 is the Wild Card meeting will move away from Muswellbrook for the first time in the Country Championships eight year history.

This year, the race will move 30 minutes up the road to the Scone racecourse and will be held over 1400m for the first time on March 20.
