“My husband and I both work in the city, so we could just jump in the car, whiz down the Freeway and I can be in the office in Grenfell St in 45 minutes,” Ms Leach says.
“The views here are incredible. I’m working from home and I can see the Lower Lakes from the bedroom window, and on a clear day you can actually see the sand on the beach.
“We’ve got the Bremer Ranges and all of its changing colours and the sun sets on the other side of the house, it’s pretty special watching the colours change over the hills.
“Plus there’s an olive block over the back so I just make out I’m in Tuscany or Spain.”
The couple have since renovated the property throughout, with the home now featuring four bedrooms, an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area; a separate spacious living space and an enclosed outdoor entertainment area.
“It was pink and green when we bought it, so we’ve knocked out walls, put in walls, put in a new kitchen, laundry and timber floors, very expensive soft furnishings and then we’ve put on an outdoor pavilion,” Ms Leach says.
“With the barbecue and fridge it’s party central because it’s 24m long, so it doesn’t matter if it’s raining or sunny, we can have massive family gatherings out there.
“We’ve had 60 people out there and there was plenty of space.”
Ms Leach says the home was renovated to the highest standard, and boasts quality fixtures and finishes throughout.
“Quality is the most important thing,” Ms Leach says.
“We used local craftspeople too because that was really important to us.”
As stunning as the home is, Ms Leach says it’s location is second to none, providing easy access to a range of quality nearby wineries.
“We love Howard’s Vineyard, The Lane, Lot 100, and Bird In Hand is just 10 minutes away, and the food and local produce available at these places is just wonderful,” she says.
The couple are now moving on to their next project, and have absolutely no desire to leave the Hills they have come to love so much.
