Berejiklian: ‘I didn’t feel there was anything I could report’ to ICAC

Former NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian told ICAC she “didn’t feel” there was anything to report to the commission of any wrongdoing her ex-partner and former Wagga Wagga MP Daryl Maguire engaged in.

Ms Berejiklian is being investigated by the Independent Commission Against Corruption into whether she breached public trust while in a secret relationship with Mr Maguire.

The former premier has fronted ICAC on her second day at the hearings to provide evidence in front of the commission.

“I don't know what I would have reported; he told me he did nothing wrong; he told me his association with these people was limited and I believed him, and then clearly, on the 13th of July, that wasn't the case,” she said.

“But I didn't assume he'd done anything wrong; I didn't feel there was anything I could add; I didn't feel there was anything I could report.

“I didn't suspect him of corrupt conduct. I didn't suspect that he had doing anything horrendously wrong.”
