COVID-19 testing extended for NSW and Victorian travellers

New South Wales and Victoria will extend COVID-19 testing for travellers until December 15 to coincide with changes to the nation's border restrictions.

Returning travellers will be required to undergo  a PCR test within 24 hours of arrival and another test on day six. 

Australia's border reopening was postponed by two weeks after the outbreak of the Omicron variant, delaying the arrival of 2,000 international students, skilled migrants and working holiday makers. 

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says the changes are in place to understand the risk of the new strain.
