David Speirs named as new SA Liberal leader

The South Australian Liberal party has elected David Speirs as the new Liberal Leader as they reposition themselves as the opposition.

Former Premier Steven Marshall announced he would step down from the leadership position when his government lost the election in March.

Mr Speirs was elected with 18 votes and won the position over two other contestants, Josh Teague who received 5 votes, and Nick McBride who received one vote. 

Mr Speirs was the environment minister in the Marshall government and is a progressive Liberal.
