WLKY Chief meteorologist Jay Cardosi talking about the heat ramping up tomorrow followed by more late-week rain chances

METEOROLOGIST JAY CARDOSI. ALL RIGHT. NICE TO SEE SOME QUIET WEATHER RETURNING TO THE REGION AND YOU KNOW, WHAT FOR A DECENT AMOUNT OF TIME WE DIDN’T HAVE ANY RAINFALL ACROSS THE AREA THROUGHOUT THIS DAY AS A MATTER OF FACT AS WE MOVE DEEPER INTO THE EVENING THROUGH TOMORROW, I THINK MAINLY DRY SKIES CAN BE ANTICIPATED ACROSS THE BETTER PART OF THE VIEWING AREA RIGHT NOW. WE HAVE INCREASING AMOUNTS OF SUNSHINE. IT’S WARM. IT’S MUGGY. IT’S EARLY AUGUST AFTER. ALL RIGHT, WE’RE 87 DEGREES THE HUMIDITY ABOUT 50% THERE. SO THE DEW POINT IT’S RAMPING UP A LITTLE BIT. IT’S IN THE STICKY RANGE THE MIDDEN UPPER 60S. SO THE FEEL LIKE IS 90 WITH THAT SOUTH SOUTHEASTERLY BREEZE RIGHT AROUND EIGHT MILES AN HOUR THE RADAR SCAN THOUGH LOOKS WONDERFUL. NOTHING’S SHOWING UP AROUND THE METRO REMEMBER YESTERDAY LAST NIGHT. WE HAD THE BIG STORMS FIRE UP OFF TO THE NORTH AND NORTHWEST WELL AGAIN FOR THE MOST PART, WE ARE DRY RIGHT NOW. AND I THINK WE’RE GOING TO HOLD ON TO THOSE DRY SKIES TONIGHT AND FOUR MUCH OF TOMORROW, EVEN THE CLOUDS THAT WERE QUITE THICK FOR THE BETTER PART OF THE DAY ARE SHOWING SIGNS OF THINNING. WE’RE SEEING INCREASING AMOUNTS OF LATE DAY SUNSHINE. THAT’S WHY THE TEMPERATURE JUMPING UP JUST A LITTLE BIT STILL PLEASANT UPPER 70S LOWER 80S ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTHERN INDIANA WHERE THE SUN HAS BEEN SHINING FOR A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME. WELL, WE’RE STILL THE LOW 90S MUN. OIL, CAMPBELLSVILLE AS WELL AS COLUMBIA. ALL RIGHT. HERE’S THE WEATHER PATTERN THE PAST FIVE TO SIX HOURS OR SO AND YOU CAN SEE THE HUGE HUGE THUNDERSTORM COMPLEX THAT JUST WOULDN’T DIE. IT DEVELOPED YESTERDAY AFTERNOON KEPT GOING LAST NIGHT MUCH OF THE DAY TODAY IN ILLINOIS. FINALLY. IT’S DYING OUT. WE DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT RAIN ON THIS TUESDAY EVENING, BUT IT’LL BE WARM IN A LITTLE BIT STICKY AS WE GO FROM THE UPPER 80S DOWN INTO THE UPPER. AND LOW 80S ONCE THE SUN GOES DOWN. LOOK AT THE TEMPERATURES OFF TO THE WEST IT IS HOT. WE’RE TALKING UPPER 90S NEAR 100 DEGREES ACROSS THE MIDDLE SECTIONS OF THE UNITED STATES. WE ARE GOING TO GET A GLANCING BLOW OF THIS STUFF AS WE MOVE ESPECIALLY THROUGH TOMORROW, OF COURSE, MOST NOTABLY IN THE AFTERNOON TOMORROW MORNING. NOT BAD UPPER 60S LOW 70S WILL GREET YOU IN THE OUTLINE REGIONS TO AROUND 75 IN TOWN SHOULD HAVE LOTS OF CLEAR SKIES THE FIRST HALF OF THE DAY THEN THOSE PUFFY CUMULUS CLOUDS FORMING IN THE HEAT OF THE AFTERNOON, BUT IT DOES LOOK MAINLY DRY. BUT THE HEAT OF THE AFTERNOON IT’S GOING TO BE HOT AFTERNOON. NO QUESTION ABOUT IT LOW TO PERHAPS THE MIDDLE 90S FOR AFTERNOON HIGHS ON YOUR WEDNESDAY LOOKING AT 95 AND WITH THAT HUMIDITY. WELL, THE FEEL LIKE TEMPERATURE COULD BE ANYWHERE FROM 100 TO 105 FOR SEVERAL HOURS TOMORROW AFTERNOON. SO KEEP THAT IN MIND THEN LATER IN THE WEEK INTO THE FIRST PART OF THE WEEKEND EVEN THOUGH THE WEATHER PATTERN DOESN’T LOOK ALL THAT UNSETTLED. HERE’S WHAT’S GOING TO BE HAPPENING MAIN JET STREAM WILL BE WELL OFF TO THE NORTH OF US, BUT THIS LITTLE WEAKNESS IN THE UPPER AIR PATTERN IS GOING TO SET UP SHOP RIGHT ON TOP OF THE OHIO VALLEY AND I THINK THAT’S GOING TO BE ENOUGH TO BRING US SOME WIDELY SCATTERED FROM NOT SCATTERED AFTERNOON SHOWERS AND STORMS BEGINNING THURSDAY LATE DAY LASTING INTO FRIDAY SATURDAY AND THEN RETURNING AGAIN, EARLY NEXT WEEK. SO HERE’S OUR FORECAST NOW FOR THIS EVENING CLOUDS WILL DECREASE IT LOOKS WARM AND DRY THE 80S WILL EVENTUALLY TRANSITION INTO THE 70S TOMORROW MORNING. WE’LL WAKE UP TO 75 DEGREES FOLKS. IT’S GOING TO BE A HOT AFTERNOON AS WE CLIMB INTO THE LOW AND MIDDLE 90S HEAT INDEX UP OVER 100 DEGREES STILL 90 THURSDAY, BUT A CHANCE FOR SOME SCATTERED LATE DAY THUNDERSTORMS SCATTER STORM CHANCES LAST FRIDAY SATURDAY, WE GET A BREAK THE WAY IT LOOKS RIGHT NOW ON SUNDAY. ONLY TO SEE THEM TRY TO MAKE A RETURN MONDAY OF NEXT WEEK. SO YEAH, IT’S GOING TO GET HOT TOMORROW BE PREPARED FOR THAT AND THEN MORE SCATTERED STORM CHANCES THE REST OF THE WORK WEEK. WE JUST CAN’T REALLY SHAKE THIS UNSETTLED WEATHER PATTERN. I MEAN, IT’S SUMMER SO WE’LL TRY WELL THE 95.
