The Hoptown Hoppers lost a slugfest with the Owenboro RiverDawgs on the road Wednesday night, falling 16-14.
The Hoppers are now 8-9 overall on the year with a second consecutive loss and now sit in sixth place in the Ohio Valley League.
After going into the third inning tied 6-6, the Hoppers scored six more runs in the third and fourth to take a 12-7 lead through four.
Both teams added one run apiece in the fifth, but Owensboro tallied four in the sixth and four more in the bottom of the eighth to claim the victory.
Joshua Rodriguez led Hoptown at the plate, going 3-for-6 with a home run and four RBI. Leadoff hitter Ren Tachioka scored four times while going 3-for-4 with two RBI and three walks. Sean Sullivan also homered for the Hoppers as one of his two hits to go along with his two RBI and two runs scored.
The Hoppers used five pitchers in the game. Jacob Diliday went 3.1 innings, giving up nine earned runs and taking the loss.
The Hoppers will be back in action at home on Friday at 6:30 p.m. against the second-place Franklin Duelers.
