The Hoptown Hoppers won their first round Ohio Valley League playoff series against the Fulton Railroaders over the weekend.
After losing Game 1 14-2 at home on Friday, the Hoppers had to rally and win 7-5 in extra innings on Saturday before clinching the series with a 6-2 home win on Sunday.
In the win Saturday, the Hoppers trailed 4-3 heading into the ninth inning, but Jacob Dupps hit a two-run homer to put the Hoppers ahead 5-4.
Fulton came back to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth with a run, forcing extra innings.
Luis Vergara-Schoonewolf hit a two-run double in the top of the 10th to score Sean Sullivan and William Spear for the game-winning RBI.
Dupps led the team at the plate, going 3-for-6 with his two-run homer. Sullivan went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks and scored twice.
Aaron Moss came on to pitch the final 1.1 innings to earn the win.
In Sunday’s game, Hoptown took a 3-2 lead after the first inning and never looked back in the 6-2 victory.
Dupps came up big once again, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Edmundo Alanis also hi a solo homer for the Hoppers.
Luke Genier started on the mount and pitched six strong innings, striking out five while allowing just two runs. Jacob Diliday came on to pitch the final three innings of scoreless relief to earn the save. He struck out five, walked none and allowed just three hits.
The Hoppers started the second round of the playoffs on Monday night at the second-place Full Count Rhythm.
Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday night at home. First pitch will be at 6:30 p.m.
