Ibrahimovic scores his 400th league – Sports Africa

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his 400th goal in domestic leagues to help AC Milan beat Roma 2-1 in Serie A on Sunday

In a night where both Milan teams racked up victories while Joaquin Correa’s quick-double helped Inter Milan conquer Udinese 2-0.

AC Milan had managed six consecutive wins in Serie A before Sunday’s game while Roma provided a shaky performance recently.

Ibra, who just celebrated his 40th birthday in early October, opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a powerful free-kick, it is his 400th goal in league football and 150th in Serie A including spells at Juventus and Inter.

Ibra had scored his second in the 50th minute, but it was canceled due to offside.

The Swede kept dangerous as he was charged down by Roger Ibanez three minutes later in the box, Franck Kessie kept his cool to convert the penalty.

Milan was dealt a blow in the 66th minute when left-back Theo Hernandez was sent off after his second bookable defense.

Stephan El Shaarawy pulled one goal back for Roma in the stoppage time, but it was too late.

Roma’s defeat also stained coach Jose Mourinho’s record in Serie A, as it is his first home setback in the Italian top flight after 33 wins and 10 draws.

With the win, AC Milan is second with 31 points, just behind Napoli on inferior goal-difference who edged Salernitana 1-0 on Piotr Zielinski’s winner.

It was also a good day for Inter Milan, as Correa played heroics to complete a double in a span of eight minutes including a splendid solo run, boosting the Nerazzurri to dominate Udinese 2-0 at San Siro.

In Sunday’s other fixtures, Dusan Vlahovic’s hat-trick inspired Fiorentina to humiliate Spezia, Empoli beat Sassuolo 2-1, Genoa and Venezia played out a goalless draw.
