Lightning strike caused fire at Louisville adult night club, fire officials say

Fire investigators have released a preliminary cause for a fire one of Lousiville’s adult night club. According to the Louisville Fire Department, the cause of the fire at Showgirls Night Club on Monday was a lightning strike.Watch video of the fire in the player above.LFD said this preliminary cause is based on witness statements, surveillance video, fire burn patterns and examination of equipment on the interior. They said that arson investigators will continue gathering evidence, including formal lightning strike data, additional witness statements and joint scene exams with involved parties before concluding the investigation.Officials said the fire happened around 6 a.m. Monday at the club, formerly called Deja Vu, just a few minutes from Churchill Downs. LFD officials said there were six people inside when they arrived but were not aware the building was on fire. Those six people were evacuated safely.Thirty firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about one hour and 15 minutes. Officials said the building sustained extensive damage, but could not say if it was a total loss or not.
