Morrison’s net zero plan is ‘smoke and mirrors’

Scott Morrison’s net zero plan is all “smoke and mirrors” which lacked “the substance that was expected”, according to Independent MP Zali Steggall.

“It’s not good enough to commit to net zero by 2050 when that is ultimately the bare minimum that is required,” Ms Steggall told Sky News Australia.

“I was expecting the Prime Minister to announce actual … like what we see from the New South Wales government, the renewable energy zones.

“At the moment, the plan announced by the government is ‘let’s continue with business as usual, let’s see what the market does, and let’s hope we can offset it with a magic pill of carbon capture and storage.

“What I believe strongly is we should have a science-based approach, expert-based approach, and a fiscally responsible approach.”
