National Cabinet agrees to focus on boosting vaccination program

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has outlined the National Cabinet measures discussed to slow the spread of Omicron across the country, after the emergency meeting was held on Wednesday afternoon.

The meeting focused on three key areas: public health social measures, the vaccination program and test, trace, isolate and quarantine (TTIQ).

The recommendations and changes implemented from Wednesday’s meeting will include a recommendation for indoor mask wearing, a ramp-up of state-run clinics, and a uniform definition of ‘close contacts’ across states.

Further advice from ATAGI will also be sought regarding booster shot timelines.
