Nineteen subjects cited for turkey hunting violations during opening weekend



Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement brokers cited 19 other folks for alleged turkey looking violations all the way through the hole weekend of the 2022 turkey looking season. Turkey season opened on April 2 in all 3 turkey looking spaces.

On April 1 brokers cited:

  • Jonathan Dees, 43, of Albany for looking turkeys all the way through a closed season and failing to agree to turkey tagging necessities in Tangipahoa Parish.

On April 2 brokers cited:

  • Darrell L. Arnold, 75, of Alexandria, for possessing unlawful turkey all the way through an open season and failing to take care of intercourse identity of tag meat in Vernon Parish.
  • Christopher W. Carmack, 26, of Deridder, for looking all the way through a turkey lottery hunt with out lottery allow in Vernon Parish.
  • Mark R. Wallace, 63, of Deridder, for looking turkeys over a baited space in Vernon Parish.
  • Denis S. Beard, 66, of Baton Rouge, for looking all the way through a turkey lottery hunt with out lottery allow in Vernon Parish.
  • Galen L. Collins, 74, of Gilbert, for looking turkeys over a baited space in Catahoula Parish.
  • Sherry S. Collins, 60, of Gilbert, for looking turkeys over a baited space in Catahoula Parish.
  • Randy A. Smith, 67, of Bossier City, for looking turkeys over a baited space in Claiborne Parish.
  • Landon Turner, 27, of Jackson for looking turkeys over a baited space in East Feliciana Parish.
  • Alan P. Sagely, 42, of Jackson, for looking turkeys over a baited space in East Feliciana Parish.
  • Glen Berthelot, 58, of Port Allen, for looking turkeys over a baited space in East Feliciana Parish.
  • Lauren Berthelot, 30, of Clinton, for looking turkeys over a baited space in East Feliciana.
  • Nelson Jackson, 68, of Denham Springs, for looking turkeys over a baited space in East Baton Rouge Parish.

On April 3 brokers cited:

  • Shannon Lanier, 53, of Kentwood, for looking turkeys with a rifle, no longer possessing fundamental, large sport and turkey looking licenses, and failing to agree to turkey tagging laws in Tangipahoa Parish.
  • Christopher M Duncan, 28, of Kentwood, for unlawful ownership of a stolen gun, unlawful ownership of a firearm by way of a convicted felon, looking with an unplugged shotgun, no longer possessing fundamental, large sport and turkey looking licenses, failing to agree to turkey tagging laws and no longer abiding by way of fee regulations and laws in Tangipahoa Parish. He used to be booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.

On April 4 brokers cited:

  • Ronald Schroeder, 64, of Watertown, Wisc., for looking with out non-resident fundamental, large sport and turkey looking licenses, violating turkey tagging laws, looking turkeys over a baited space and looking with an unplugged gun in Winn Parish.
  • Jonathan Schroeder, 30, of Sullivan, Wisc., for looking with out non-resident fundamental, large sport and turkey looking licenses, violating turkey tagging laws and looking turkeys over a baited space in Winn Parish.
  • Justin M. Johnson, 41, of Westlake, for looking turkeys over a baited space in Catahoula Parish.
  • Justin L. Lester, 33, of Homer, for looking turkeys over a baited space in Claiborne Parish.

According to the 2022 Turkey Regulations, nobody shall hunt or take turkeys by way of the help of baiting or on or over a baited space. Hunters don’t seem to be allowed to put, reveal, deposit or scatter corn, wheat or different grain, salt or different feed to entice turkeys to their looking space.
