Olaf Scholz sworn in as German chancellor

Germany has sworn in a new chancellor – officially ending Angela Merkel’s 16 years in power.

Olaf Scholz, who served as vice chancellor and finance minister – won 395 votes to 303 in Parliament.

The 63 year old will lead a liberal-left Coalition government.
