Singer-songwriter Archie Roach dies aged 66

Legendary singer-songwriter Archie Roach has passed away at the age of 66. 

The Gunditjmara and Bundjalung senior elder died in hospital in Victoria after a long illness.

 Mr Roach’s recording career began with his 1990 debut album ‘Charcoal Lane’ which featured the landmark song ‘Took the Children Away’. 

He won various awards including a Deadly Award for a Lifetime Contribution to Healing Stolen Generations and was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2020.
