State governments ‘screaming’ their hospital systems are ‘under stress’

Media Stable Managing Director Nic Hayes says state governments around Australia are “screaming” that their hospital systems are “under stress” as the country begins to open up.

The Age is reporting almost every part of Victoria’s health system is failing to meet key performance targets as hospitals struggle under the strain of COVID-19.

“This is not new, this COVID-19, it’s been around almost two years now and the fact that we’re not prepared and ready for it is just frightening,” he said.

“But we’ve got to put more resources behind it and part of that is actually opening up the borders so we can allow health staff to move around and get to the very places that we need them to be.”
